Walt Disney Parks and Resorts will be rolling out a collection of tools at the Walt Disney World Resort called MyMagic+ that will give guests more opportunities to customize and personalize their entire visit.  MyMagic+ will allow guests to book guaranteed ride times for their favorite shows and attractions even before setting foot in the park. With MyMagic+, guests will be able to do that and more, enabling them to spend more time together and creating an experience that’s better for everyone.

A major component of MyMagic+ is the new My Disney Experience website and mobile app, which gives guests planning their trip the latest information on Walt Disney World Resort. Some people like to plan every aspect of their Disney vacation in advance while others like to plan very little, letting their day unfold spontaneously. No matter where guests fall in that spectrum, My Disney Experience gives them the flexibility to plan as much or as little as they’d like to create the exact Disney experience they want.

Guests can book dining and other experiences and reserve times for their favorite attractions, shows and more through an enhanced FastPass system, FastPass+. Once they arrive, they can use their smart phones to spontaneously change their plans in the moment, exploring the parks at their own pace and getting the most out of their visit.

Linking the entire MyMagic+ experience together is the MagicBand. Worn on the wrist, the MagicBand is an all-in-one device that connects all the vacation choices guests make online with My Disney Experience.  Guests can use their MagicBand to enter their Disney Resort hotel room, buy food and merchandise, and enter Walt Disney World theme parks and water parks. In addition, the MagicBand provides FastPass+ access to all the experiences selected and serves as the connection to Disney’s PhotoPass.

The MagicBand is initially available to select Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests and guests who purchase other specific products.  Other guests will be able to use their standard ticket to access the benefits of MyMagic+, such as making FastPass+ selections on My Disney Experience.

The MagicBand does not store any personal information – it contains a code that securely links to an encrypted database that associates the MagicBand with the benefits a guest has purchased. Disney said extensive measures are in place to protect the privacy of guests and the security of the personal information they choose to share. Guests may choose to not participate in MyMagic+ and MagicBands may be disabled if lost.

~ Sandals Resorts Partners With Jamaica Tourist Board to Provide a Caribbean Getaway to Victims and Workers of Chilean Mining Accident ~

As the Chilean Miners are reunited with their loved ones, Sandals Resorts International has embarked on a mission to provide a bit of sunshine and relaxation to those affected by the incident. The resort company has partnered with the Jamaica Tourist Board to provide miners who spent more than two months underground, along with loved ones and rescue workers, with a Luxury Included® Sandals Resorts Jamaican getaway.

The charitable initiative was announced during a press conference held in Montego Bay, Jamaica by Jamaica’s Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett on Thursday, October 14, 2010. “This must be seen as not only an international event, but also a triumph of the human spirit,” said Gordon “Butch” Stewart, chairman of Sandals Resorts. “It is fitting and appropriate that we in Jamaica extend a loving hand to our brothers and sisters in South America who endured such a demanding ordeal, yet emerged victorious despite all odds.”

Sandals Resorts International continues to be heavily involved in charity throughout the Caribbean and the world through its charitable arm, the Sandals Foundation. The Sandals Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization and represents a culmination of three decades of dedication to playing a meaningful role in the lives of various communities.

A new Mexican law restricting USD cash purchases, effective today, restricting the ability to make purchases in USD cash of more than $100. While the number of transactions per person has not been limited, each USD cash transaction may not exceed $100 and some shops and other businesses may refuse U.S. cash purchases completely.

Visitors to Mexico who may be accustomed to purchasing goods or services with U.S. cash payments will still be able to use other forms of payment such as credit cards, debit cards, travellers cheques and Mexican pesos.

Hotels and exchange services are limited to changing USD 1,500 per person per month into Mexican pesos. Previously there had been no limit.

The new regulations are part of a new strategy by Mexican officials to combat money laundering and drug trafficking. Drugs head north while billions of dollars in cash are smuggled back into Mexico and into the pockets of drug cartels. Restricting purchases in USD will make it more difficult for drug traffickers to spend the proceeds of their cash-based crime.

Mexican authorities had originally wanted a purchase limit of USD 30 but will test the $100 limit initially.
