Frequently Asked Travel QuestionsHere is a list of answers to some frequently asked questions we get from prospective clients.

Working With a Travel Advisor

Why should I use a travel advisor instead of booking online myself?
I provide expert guidance, destination knowledge, and hands-on support you won’t get from booking sites. I manage every detail, advocate for you with suppliers, and help you avoid costly mistakes, so your vacation is seamless and stress-free.

Are you the right travel advisor for everyone?
I’m best suited for travelers who value expertise, personalized service, and thoughtful planning. If price alone is your top priority, online booking sites may be a better fit.

Do you charge a planning or service fee?
Some trips include a professional planning fee based on complexity. This is always discussed upfront, so expectations are clear from the start.

Is it cheaper to book through you?
My focus is value, not bargain hunting. I often secure better resort matches, exclusive perks, and added amenities—not just the lowest price. I’m happy to submit a price match request to my suppliers if you find a lower price on a vacation package with the same trip components.

What destinations do you specialize in?
I specialize in the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii, and Tahiti, with firsthand experience and deep knowledge of resorts, islands, and travel styles in each region.

Romance, Honeymoons & Adult-Only Travel

Do you specialize in romantic travel?
Yes. Romantic getaways are my primary focus, including honeymoons, anniversaries, vow renewals, and adults-only escapes.

Can you help with honeymoon perks and special touches?
Yes, I coordinate honeymoon amenities, resort credits, room category guidance, and romantic experiences whenever available.

When should we start planning our honeymoon or anniversary trip?
Ideally, 8–12 months in advance, especially for peak seasons or destinations like Hawaii and Tahiti.

Can you work within a set budget?
Yes — within reason. I help you maximize value and recommend destinations and resorts that align with your expectations and travel style.

All-Inclusive Resorts & Cruises

What is an all-inclusive resort?
All-inclusive resorts typically bundle accommodations, dining, drinks, entertainment, and select activities into one upfront price. Airfare is not included at an all-inclusive resort, but can be added to your vacation package.

Are adults-only all-inclusive resorts worth it?
For couples seeking a seamless travel experience and romantic atmosphere with elevated service and dining, adults-only resorts are often an excellent choice.

Do you plan cruises and group cruises?
Absolutely. I plan ocean cruises and group cruises, handling contracts, cabin blocks, and coordination. Group cruises are a great way to earn perks for yourself. I also add value by adding guests to existing group cruises when available, so you get the benefit of lower rates.

Planning Process & Expectations

How does the planning process work?
We start with a consultation to understand your goals, travel style, and budget. I then present personalized options and handle the logistics once you decide.

How many options will you send me?
I provide thoughtful recommendations (not endless lists), so decisions are easier and faster.

Can you help if we already booked something?
Possibly. Support depends on what has already been booked, what assistance you need, and whether the reservation can be transferred to our agency.

Do you offer payment plans?
In most cases, yes. Many resorts and cruise lines offer flexible payment schedules, allowing you to pay over time. Many clients like to pay towards their vacation monthly. Whenever a payment is made, you’ll receive an updated invoice showing all payments made to date and any remaining balances.

Will you assist during our trip if issues arise?
Yes. I provide support before, during, and after travel (for insurance claims) so you’re never navigating problems alone.

Travel Details & Policies

Do you book flights, transfers, and travel insurance?
Yes. I can arrange flights and transfers, and strongly recommend travel insurance for protection and peace of mind.

What happens if we need to cancel or change our trip?
Policies vary by supplier. Your reservation invoice will have all the details regarding supplier cancellation policies before you book.

Do I need a passport?
If you are traveling to an international destination by air, you will require a valid passport with at least six months remaining before expiration.

Destination Wedding FAQs

How many days should we plan for a destination wedding trip?
Most destination weddings are 3–5 nights. The ceremony usually happens on day 2 or 3, which gives everyone time to arrive, relax, enjoy some fun events, and actually spend time together. Lately, some couples are stretching this into a whole “wedding week,” turning it into a true vacation with a slower pace. When setting the schedule, we’ll consider your guests’ time off, travel distance, and budgets so the trip feels exciting rather than stressful.

Who actually plans the destination wedding?
You do, but with a lot of help. You focus on the fun stuff: your vision, your guest list, and your priorities. I handle the travel side: recommending resorts, locking in group rates, coordinating rooms, and managing everyone’s reservations. On-site resort coordinators handle ceremony details, including flowers, music, and the reception. You’re never doing this alone. I’m your guide and advocate from start to finish, and I want you to be able to rely on my 20+ years of experience planning destination weddings.

How much does a destination wedding usually cost?
Most couples I work with invest around $10,000–$15,000 for their ceremony plans, though that can vary. Destination weddings can actually cost less than traditional weddings at home, especially with resort packages that include the basics. Some couples even qualify for complimentary packages based on guest stays. Your main expenses are typically travel, accommodations, attire, and any upgrades you choose. I’ll help you set a realistic budget and understand what’s included so there are no surprises.

How many guests usually attend a destination wedding?
Most destination weddings include 20–60 guests, though I’ve planned everything from private elopements to weddings with 80+ guests. In general, about 25–40% of invited guests attend. I’ll help you estimate attendance and reserve the correct number of rooms so you’re not over‑ or under‑committing.

How far in advance should we start planning?
Ideally, 12–18 months ahead. Popular resorts and venues book quickly, and starting early gives your guests time to budget, request time off, and plan travel. It also gives us better options for rates, room blocks, and ceremony details.

How do we choose the right destination and resort if we’ve never been there?
That’s where I come in. As your Destination Wedding Travel Specialist, I’ll help balance your dream wedding location with what works best for you and your guests (e.g., travel time, budgets, passport requirements).  This can be challenging – you may prefer your once-in-a-lifetime bucket-list location that’s tough for your guests to plan for, or you may focus more on places that will be easiest for your guests to travel to. My job is to listen to your ideas and narrow down the best-fit destinations and resorts, drawing on years of experience working with couples so that you can choose confidently without endless online research. Some resorts even offer the chance to “test drive” your wedding with discounted rates for the bridal couple to preview the resort and wedding location.

How do we plan the ceremony if we can’t visit in advance?
Most planning is done virtually with the on-site coordinators. I’ll make the introduction to the wedding coordinator and help communicate your vision. Keep in mind that after the initial planning, you may not hear from your assigned wedding coordinator very often until your wedding date gets closer.

What about legal requirements for getting married abroad?
Many couples choose to handle the legal paperwork at home and have a symbolic ceremony at the destination rather than a civil ceremony. It’s much simpler and less stressful. If you want a legally binding destination ceremony, that’s absolutely doable too. I’ll walk you through the requirements based on the country you want to get married in, so you’re prepared.

How do our guests handle their travel arrangements?
I manage all travel arrangements for your group booked through me. I’ll set up a custom webpage and booking process using your group rates and act as the main point of contact for guest questions. That way, you’re not fielding dozens of messages while planning your wedding.

What if our guests have different budgets or special requests?
That’s totally normal. We’ll choose room options that offer flexibility, and I can set up payment plans, recommend travel insurance, and handle special needs so everyone feels taken care of.

What events should we plan besides the ceremony?
Many couples plan a welcome cocktail, the ceremony and reception, and maybe a farewell brunch. Depending on your group, we can also add excursions, spa days, or other activities. I’ll help you strike the right balance so it feels fun.

What happens if something goes wrong, like weather or flight issues?
Unexpected things can happen, but with our help, you’ll never be alone dealing with these surprises! That’s where having an advisor on your side really matters. If flights are delayed or plans need to shift, I step in to find solutions using my supplier and destination connections. You stay focused on celebrating while we handle the problem‑solving behind the scenes.

Honeymoon FAQs

How long should our honeymoon be?
The best answer is: as long as the two of you have the time and budget to truly disconnect and enjoy it together. For most couples, seven to 10 nights is ideal. You’ll want a day at the beginning to decompress after the wedding and a day at the end to ease back into real life, leaving five to eight full days to enjoy your destination.

Destination matters, too. Four to six nights can work beautifully for closer trips like Mexico or the Caribbean, while 10 to 14 nights is often better for long-haul destinations such as Europe, Asia, or the South Pacific to make the travel time worthwhile and reduce fatigue.

If time or budget is tight, many couples opt for a “minimoon” (a short two- or three-night getaway right after the wedding) followed by a longer encore honeymoon later on.

How much should we budget for our honeymoon?
Most couples spend $5,000–$8,000 for a weeklong honeymoon to closer destinations like the Caribbean, Mexico, or domestic cities. For bucket-list trips such as Tahiti, Fiji, Japan, Europe, or Africa, budgets can range up to $15,000 or more.

Our best advice: set your budget first, then choose a destination that fits comfortably within it. Don’t force a destination to match your budget. With the right planning, there are always ways to maximize value, upgrade experiences, and create something truly special.

When should we start planning our honeymoon?
Right after getting engaged, wedding planning usually takes center stage, and that’s totally normal. Ideally, you should start discussing budget and destination ideas six to nine months in advance.

If you’re considering long-haul destinations, traveling during peak seasons, or have your heart set on a highly sought-after resort, it’s best to start 10 to 12 months ahead. Earlier planning typically means better flight options, more room choices, and sometimes better pricing.

Where should we consider going for our honeymoon?
Three factors usually drive honeymoon decisions: budget, timing, and desired experiences.

Once we understand how much you want to spend and how long you can be away, we can narrow down destinations that make sense. From there, it’s all about what you want your honeymoon to feel like – relaxed beach days, adventure and excursions, culture and food, or a blend of everything. We’ll match your destination and itinerary to your travel style.

Should we stay in one destination or split the honeymoon between multiple places?
For a standard weeklong honeymoon, we usually recommend staying in one destination so you don’t lose valuable time packing, transferring, and unpacking.

If you have 10 nights or more, splitting your honeymoon between two destinations can add variety and balance,  especially if you’re blending different interests, like beach time paired with culture or adventure.

Do all-inclusive resorts always work best for honeymoons?
Not always. All-inclusive resorts are fantastic for couples who love the simplicity of one upfront price that covers food, drinks, and activities, and many are designed specifically with honeymooners in mind.

That said, some couples prefer boutique hotels or city-center properties that allow them to explore local restaurants, shops, and nightlife. And don’t forget cruises. Ocean, river, and expedition cruises can be incredible honeymoon options. We help you choose what truly fits your style.

What’s the best time of year to go on our honeymoon?
Many couples leave immediately after the wedding, and we’ll absolutely find the best options for those dates. If your timing is flexible, we can guide you around factors like weather patterns, hurricane seasons, and peak pricing.

Traveling during shoulder or low seasons can often unlock better values, even for bucket-list destinations, without sacrificing the experience.

How should we balance relaxing versus exploring on our honeymoon?
We recommend the “one-a-day” rule: plan one main activity per day and leave the rest of the time open. That could be a spa treatment, a cooking class, a scenic excursion, or a romantic dinner.

Honeymoons should feel effortless and unstructured. Overscheduling leads to exhaustion, not romance.

Should we book activities and excursions in advance or wait until we arrive?
Book in advance anything you consider a must-do, such as whale watching, private beach dinners, spa appointments, or tee times at popular golf courses.

Everything else can stay flexible so you can decide based on weather, energy levels, and how you’re feeling. We’re happy to handle those bookings for you or guide you through options.

Do honeymoons have to happen right after the wedding?
Not at all. While many couples leave the next day, others prefer different approaches due to work schedules, family obligations, or budget considerations.

Options include:

  • A minimoon right after the wedding, followed by a longer honeymoon later

  • A delayed honeymoon, skipping travel immediately after the ceremony

  • Even a “buddymoon,” where you start the trip alone as a couple and later invite close friends or family to join for part of it

There’s no right or wrong—just what works best for you.
